Quality Care in the Comfort of Your Home

When a loved one is disabled or elderly, it can be challenging to provide quality care daily, especially without living in the home with the individual. The dedication that it takes to care for these disabled or aging loved ones does not go unnoticed. A Special Touch In-Home Care is a privately-held, non-medical West Virginia healthcare agency that understands the crucial planning that takes place daily and wants to allow your loved one to stay in their home for as long as possible. We know how much you love and enjoy the best for them by providing care in the comfort of their home; let us help you keep that promise by treating your loved ones like our own and giving them the companionship and care that you always give to them.

Not all services are an ideal fit for every patient. We ensure to take the time to listen to the challenges that each patient may be having and tailor our programs based on their needs.

What Makes Us Different

We believe that quality care begins with compassionate care. If your loved one does not need to move into an assisted living facility, nursing home, or in need of hospice care, in-home care may be the best option.

Determining whether to hire in-home care for your loved one can be a difficult decision. With time, many people face mental or physical challenges that can inerfere with a normal, independent lifestyle, including subtle behavior changes. These characteristics could include a decline in personal hygiene, wearing the same clothing multiple days in a row, a living space that has become extremely cluttered, unsanitary living conditions, a lack of fresh food, weight loss, not taking medications, or unexplained bruising due to mobility issues. This is where our caregivers come in.

How Do I Know That In-Home Care is Right for My Loved One?

Bringing up the conversation of getting an in-home caregiver for your loved one should be a gradual process, especially if your loved one is hesitant. A great approach to take with your loved one is to talk with them and understand their concerns and questions regarding in-home care and not disregard what they have to say. Our caregivers provide services along companionship to clients, so we want to ensure that your loved one is comfortable having a new friend in their home to help out as needed. If your loved one is classified under any of the following categories, in-home care may be the right option:

  • My loved one has been diagnosed with cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, confusion, COPD, a respiratory condition, diabetes, stroke, heart failure, heart condition, or other medical condition.
  • My loved one has experienced a serious illness (i.e. flu, infection, pneumonia), joint replacement, surgery, falls, dizzy spells, loss of balance, trouble eating or swallowing, depression, or amputation in the last three months.
  • My loved one has been diagnosed with a terminal condition and was given a life expectancy of six months or less.
  • My loved one has trouble keeping track of their medications and often takes the wrong medications or dosages.
  • My loved one has difficulty bathing, dressing, cooking, using the toilet, shopping, driving, or other day-to-day tasks.
  • My loved one has difficulty leaving their home on their own.

If you answered "YES" to any of these statements and feel that in-home care could assist you and your loved one, please contact us to discuss the situation further.
